Unless otherwise noted, Planning Board meetings are held on Thursdays and begin at 9:00 a.m. The agenda is subject to change and certain items may be postponed or added.
The Planning Board encourages public testimony unless otherwise noted on the agenda. Refer to the Planning Board Rules of Procedure for more information on public testimony. Any individual or organization not scheduled for public testimony may submit a written statement for consideration by the Planning Board. Written comments should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the Planning Board hearing date with reference to the matter to ensure that all comments will be included in the record before the Commission. Written comments received on the day of the hearing via email, fax, or postal mail may not be considered by the Planning Board or included in the record unless the Chairman specifically leaves the record open. Occasionally due to time constraints, the Planning Board may limit the total amount of time dedicated to public testimony. Total time limits will be listed on the agenda. Public testimony will not be taken for items identified as Briefings, Worksessions and/or Roundtables. On other occassions when no public testimony will be taken, the agenda will specifiy.

7:30 PM	RETHINK MONTGOMERY SPEAKER SERIES - MRO AUDITORUM

	Join our Speaker Series focusing on “ReThink Ecology” with Kate Herrod. How can a more sustainable urban environment benefit the county as whole? Kate Herrod, Director of Ashoka's Community Greens, will discuss the program’s mission to restore community to neighborhoods across the country, enhance the environment, and empower citizens by integrating citizen-managed shared green spaces into places where people live and work. With assistance from Community Greens, citizens merge their backyards, transform alleys from blighted spaces to community places, and give life to vacant lots in a manner that is sustainable and systems-changing. Kate Herrod has been directing the Community Greens effort for the last four years and was instrumental, along with local partners, in getting the Baltimore City Charter changed and the Alley Gating and Greening ordinance passed. The 2010 Montgomery County Planning Department speaker series, Rethink Montgomery, presents ways to connect culture, health, food, knowledge, ecology, economy, local infrastructure, resources, and energy. Join us for our community discussions every Thursday through June 3, 2010.
