Community Service Day Volunteers Needed for Parks and Trails Work

SILVER SPRING, MD — As part of National Community Service Day on Saturday, October 22, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in Montgomery County is inviting volunteers interested in the environment and students needing service learning hours to remove invasive vines, blaze and mulch trails, clean up stream valleys and work on other projects throughout Montgomery County Parks.

Each year on Community Service Day, thousands of residents, business people, civic associations, sports organizations and others contribute to their communities by volunteering for a wide variety of beneficial projects.

In Montgomery County parks last year, thousands of people volunteered more than 65,000 hours of service to M-NCPPC’s 32,600-acre award-winning park system.

For information and registration, those interested may call the Volunteer Services Office, 301-495-2504, or click on www.parksvolunteers.org. Trails information is available online at www.montgomerytrails.org.
