Game, Set, Match! Why Tennis in Montgomery Parks Could Be For You!

Did you know that Montgomery Parks has more than 300 tennis courts throughout the county? It has never been easier to pick up a racquet and hit some tennis balls, since there is likely a court near you! Tennis is a great sport that allows you to get moving, be active, and socialize.

Here are five reasons why you should pick up a racquet and head to the court.  Don’t forget we have two indoor tennis facilities as well! So even when it’s cold outside, you always have the option to play.

Getting healthy: Aerobic fitness helps burn fat and improves your heart’s health. You will feel better and have higher energy levels.

Getting happy: Hit that perfect backhand. Serve an ace. Playing tennis is a great opportunity to enjoy some competitive fun with friends and family. Tennis players regularly score higher in surveys regarding optimism.

Getting smarter: Tennis players have to learn to adjust to their opponent’s tactics. Tennis is a great outlet that also improves problem-solving skills while also honing one’s intuition to implement winning strategies.

Gaining confidence: In addition to optimism, tennis players traditionally score higher on surveys measuring self-esteem.

Having fun! Feelings of enjoyment, competitiveness and physical challenge are inherent in the sport.

So, find a court near you and give tennis a try. If you want to take a lesson, Montgomery Parks offers tennis lessons year-round at our indoor tennis facilities, Wheaton Indoor Tennis in Wheaton Regional Park and Pauline Betz Addie Tennis Center in Cabin John Regional Park.
