I-270 AND CORRIDOR CITIES
TRANSITWAY STUDY BRIEFING
The Montgomery County Planning Board, the Mayor and Council of Rockville,
and the Mayor and Council of Gaithersburg are jointly hosting a briefing
on the status of the environmental impact study for I-270 and the Corridor
Cities Transitway at 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 2, at the Rockville
City Hall, Mayor-Council Chambers. The study, being conducted by the
Maryland State Highway Administration and the Maryland Transit Administration,
produced a Draft Environmental Impact Statement in May 2002. The state
expects to develop a preferred alternate during the next several weeks,
including selection of either Light Rail Transit (LRT) or Bus Rapid
Transit (BRT) for the Corridor Cities Transitway. The October 2 briefing
provides an opportunity for local agency staff to update elected officials
on recent study findings and for state officials to describe the decision-making
process and schedule. The public is encouraged to attend but no public
testimony will be taken.
|
The Montgomery County Planning Board is tentatively scheduled to discuss the Park Trails Work Program priorities for FY - 04 - 06 on Thursday, October 16. Copies of the staff report will be available on-line within the agenda posted on Mondays by COB or at the information counter at 8787 Georgia Avenue, in Silver Spring. Call Lyn Coleman at (301) 650-4391 for further information. |
