ICC JUNE 2004 INFORMATIONAL UPDATE MEETINGS

Come to the Intercounty Connector (ICC) Informational Update Meetings to see and hear updates on the ICC study.  The Maryland State Highway Administration, the Maryland Transportation Authority and the Federal Highway Administration will provide an update of the Study Team’s progress since recommendations on preliminary alternatives and corridors were presented in November 2003.  Information on the study of the proposed multi-modal east-west highway to link existing and planned development areas between the I-270 and I-95/US 1 corridors will include:  updated engineering on proposed corridors, environmental and community information, and traffic analysis.

Meetings will be held on Tuesday, June 15, from 2:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Bohrer Park Activity Center, 506 S. Frederick Avenue; Gaithersburg; Saturday, June 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at James Blake High School, 300 Norwood Road, Silver Spring; and Thursday June 24, from 2:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the American Legion Post #60, 2 Main Street, in Laurel.

TWINBROOK SECTOR PLAN UPDATE BEGINS

            The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Montgomery County Department of Park and Planning is inviting residents, businesses and organizations to participate in the planning of the Twinbrook Community.  Working from the vision set forth in the 2000 Charette, share your ideas with fellow community members and staff on building a transit-oriented community near the Twinbrook Metro Station.  In addition to sharing your ideas, learn about the planning process and other opportunities to participate in this effort to update the Twinbrook Sector Plan, a part of the 1992 North Bethesda Master Plan.  Additional meetings will occur throughout the summer and early fall.

UP AND RUNNING FOR LOCAL GOLF COURSES

            The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) announces the start-up of an automated tee time reservation system for the following M-NCPPC golf courses: Little Bennett, Needwood, Northwest Park, Sligo Creek and White Oak in Montgomery County, and Enterprise in Prince George’s County.  Customers are now able to reserve, modify or cancel tee times via the Internet or over the phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
