How to Participate

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The public is welcome to speak at the Board’s January 8 public hearing. Because of the large number of people who may wish to be heard on this matter, Chairman Royce Hanson has requested guidelines for participation.

  • The staff memo for the Planning Board public hearing on the Purple Line scheduled for January 8 will be available on December 22, 2008. The link will be available in three (3) locations - this special page, the Planning Board Agenda web page, and the Purple Line page
  • Chairman Hanson is encouraging interested parties to send written testimony, which can be of any length. Please follow these guidelines:
    • We encourage everyone to read the staff memo before submitting testimony
    • Written testimony should be received by noon January 2, 2009
    • Testimony must specify which segment of the Montgomery County Purple Line they wish to address – Bethesda/Chevy Chase; Silver Spring; Long Branch/Takoma/Langley; or the entire length.
  • To Testify before the Board
    • Testimony will be limited to two hours, with each speaker receiving no more than three minutes
    • Testimony sign-up will open on December 23, 2008. Sign up online.
    • Once the maximimum testimony time is filled, speaker testimony will be closed.
    • Testimony requests will also be taken by telephone. Call 301-495-4601

We appreciate your assistance and cooperation with these guidelines to allow the Planning Board to receive and hear your comments. Thank you.
