SILVER SPRING, MD—M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks is seeking interested parties to enter into a license for the adaptive reuse of the North Four Corners Park Activity Building. The building, located in North Four Corners Local Park at 211 Southwood Avenue in Silver Spring, was closed in 2010 due to low use. Montgomery Parks has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a suitable use of the building, and will host a pre-proposal /open house at the site on November 9 at 1:00 p.m. Proposals are due November 27 by 1 p.m.
The North Four Corners Park Activity Building is a one-story facility of approximately 2,000 square feet. It features one large general purpose room, a small kitchen, and two restrooms. The building is served by Washington Gas, Pepco, and Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
Proposals submitted in this round will be reviewed by a committee and evaluated on the following criteria: proposed use and overall approach to the adaptive reuse of the Park Activity Building; qualifications and expertise of the bidder; financial capacity of the bidder and feasibility of the proposed use; and the business plan for the proposed use.
A community meeting will be held at the North Four Corners Park Activity Building on December 5 to review and discuss the winning bidder’s proposed reuse.
The North Four Corners Park Activity Building is one of eight activity buildings that were offered for lease through an RFP process earlier this year. Three of the eight building have already, or are in the process of being, leased to successful bidders under the previous RFP. The remaining four activity buildings will be offered in the coming months.
