M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks to Host Public Meetings to Introduce New Park Activity Building Tenants

SILVER SPRING, MD—M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks will host a series of public meetings the weeks of July 16 and July 23 to introduce the organizations that have been selected to lease several park activity buildings that were closed in 2010 due to low use. The organizations were selected in June following a competitive Request For Proposal (RFP) process. All of the selected organizations will offer educational programs, recreational activities, and/or child care at the facilities.

The Clarksburg Sports Association has proposed use of this building to offer curriculum-based after school care programs, Tae Kwon Do classes, youth sports clinics, tutoring, a summer camp, and activities such as art classes, dance and theatre.

Alef Bet Montessori School has proposed use of this facility to provide a traditional Montessori school experience within an atmosphere of Jewish learning.

M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks staff and the selected tenants will be making brief presentations and answering questions during these meetings. For those unable to attend, comments can be sent to Daniel.Hertz@MontgomeryParks.org.

Eight park activity buildings were offered for lease through the RFP. No proposals were received for two of the buildings: Owens Park Activity Building (19900 Beallsville Road, Beallsville), and Stoneybrook Park Activity Building (4105 Harvard Street, Wheaton). Organizations interested in a possible lease at either of these locations should contact Dan Hertz at the email address above.

Eighteen similar buildings remain available to the public for birthday parties, reunions, celebrations, and other community events. These buildings are located throughout the county, and can be rented through the Park Permit Office. Visit www.ParkPermits.org for more information.
