POOLESVILLE, MD—For more than 40 years, Poole’s General Store in Poolesville, Maryland, has provided a convenient supply of feed and specialized goods and services to local equestrian, hunting, and farming communities. The Poole’s Store and adjacent residential house were acquired by M-NCPPC, Department of Parks in November 1976 from Guy and Hilda Allnutt. Raymond Poole began working in the store in 1948. He and his family continued to operate the store for decades. Because the Pooles have recently closed the store, the Department of Parks will be looking for a new tenant.
As an interim measure, Farm and Home Services, Inc. of Sykesville, Maryland has assumed the feed store operations. To reach Farm and Home Services, call 410-795-1234.
Tour the store during this upcoming open house. Attend the follow-up community meeting at the Upcounty Regional Services Center. At the community meeting, Department of Parks staff will provide an overview of the history of the property, information about the current condition of the property and discuss security measures while a new tenant is being sought. The Department of Parks anticipates using the majority of the community meeting time as an open forum for participants to share their input and feedback.
