Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department announce September 2024 calendar of events and meetings

Wheaton, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), announced their September 2024 calendar of events and meetings. The public can participate in Planning Board meetings by testifying in-persontestifying virtually, over the phone, or by sending in written comments to the Planning Board on specific Planning Board agenda items to mcp-chair@mncppc-mc.org by 12 noon two business days before the Planning Board meeting. Items received after this date and time will not be included in the record. Contact us for accessibility accommodations

The public may attend Planning Board meetings in-person, watch them live or on-demand, or listen over the phone. View individual agendas, which are usually made public 10 days prior to the start of a meeting. Consult the Development Review Committee (DRC) and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) websites for their agenda information. For more details, review the list of events below and visit www.montgomeryplanning.org. These events are subject to change. 

The Planning Department and Planning Board offices will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day.

September Calendar of Events and Meetings

September 4 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in-person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD) with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.

September 5 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD) and online.

September 11 – Join Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson and Planning Director Jason Sartori for a listening session on the Attainable Housing Strategies project. The meeting will be in-person from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Silver Spring Recreation Center and Aquatic Center (1319 Apple Ave., Silver Spring, MD). At the session, the public will be invited to give feedback about the project and ask questions. Sign up to attend.

September 11 – Montgomery Planning is hosting a community meeting to discuss preliminary recommendations for the Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment at 7 p.m. in the large meeting room at the Connie Morella Library (7400 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD).

September 12 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD) and online.

September 12 – Join Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson and Planning Director Jason Sartori for a listening session on the Attainable Housing Strategies project. The meeting will be in-person from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center (11701 Georgia Ave., Wheaton, MD). At the session, the public will be invited to give feedback about the project and ask questions. Sign up to attend.

September 13 and 14 – Come chat with Montgomery Planning staff at our information table at the Long Branch Festival to learn more about our plans and projects, including the Eastern Silver Spring Communities Plan.

September 17 – Join Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson and Planning Director Jason Sartori for a listening session on the Attainable Housing Strategies project. The meeting will be in-person from 7 to 9 p.m. at the White Oak Community Recreation Center (1700 April Lane, Silver Spring, MD). At the session, the public will be invited to give feedback about the project and ask questions. Sign up to attend.

September 17 – Montgomery Planning is hosting a virtual community meeting to discuss preliminary recommendations for the Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment. RVSPs are required to receive a meeting link.

September 18 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in-person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, second floor, Wheaton, MD) with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.

September 18 – The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) will hold its monthly Full Commission meeting.

September 19 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD) and online.

September 19 – The Planning Board’s 2024 Speaker Series continues with its second installment, “A Tale from our Partners: Lessons Learned from the Trenches.” The session is free and open to the public and will be held in the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters Second Floor Auditorium from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will also be livestreamed on the Planning Board website and made available on-demand. AICP credit eligible. RSVPs are encouraged.

September 21 – Montgomery Planning is hosting a community meeting to discuss preliminary recommendations for the Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment at 11 a.m. at Chevy Chase Town Hall (4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase, MD).

September 23 – Join Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson and Planning Director Jason Sartori for a listening session on the Attainable Housing Strategies project. The meeting will be in-person from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Germantown Community Center (18905 Kingsview Rd, Germantown, MD). At the session, the public will be invited to give feedback about the project and ask questions. Sign up to attend.

September 24 – Join Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson and Planning Director Jason Sartori for a listening session on the Attainable Housing Strategies project. The meeting will be in-person from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services (4805 Edgemoor Ln, Bethesda, MD). At the session, the public will be invited to give feedback about the project and ask questions. Sign up to attend.

September 25 – Montgomery Planning’s team working on the University Boulevard Corridor Plan is hosting an in-person workshop focused on the transportation goals and ideas analyzed for the Four Corners area. This workshop is open to the public and will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the All Purpose Room of Forest Knolls Elementary School (10830 Eastwood Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, 20901). RSVPs are encouraged, but not required.

September 26 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD) and online.

September 29 – Montgomery Planning will be at the annual Wheaton Arts Parade. Stop by our information booth to chat with staff about our plans and projects.
