SILVER SPRING, MD – At a 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17 presentation
to the Montgomery County Planning Board, newly elected American Planning
Association President Robert Hunter will explore how to measure the impact of growth on local
communities. Hunter will address the Board as it puts the finishing touches on
its recommendations for comprehensive changes to the county’s growth policy.
Hunter’s talk will explore how both development and re-development create
opportunities for improving quality of life for residents – offering them more
choices and enhanced public service. Hunter will discuss how planners and
public officials can measure those levels of service and use that
information to decide how communities should grow.
As
president of the American Planning Association, Hunter represents 41,000
planners and other professionals in 39 nations. Hunter also serves as the
executive director of the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission
in Tampa, Fla.
