POTOMAC, MD-For
the 2nd year in a row, the Montgomery County Department of Parks is
pleased to welcome The Heritage Theatre Company back to Cabin John
Regional Park for its new stage premiere-The Killer Angels, which opens
May 24 and runs through June 30 with show times at 8:30 pm on
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
“We are happy to have
Heritage back again this year,” said Department of Parks Cabin John
Regional Park Manager Ginny Moxley. “The amphitheatre is the perfect
venue and the park provides a beautiful backdrop for family evenings
out taking in the play.”
Heritage’s The Killer
Angels is the stage adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning Civil War
novel of the same title and is the story of the momentous 3-day battle
of Gettysburg in 1863.
“Due to the
resurgence in popularity of the Civil War in recent years, by men,
women, and children alike, we feel this was the perfect play to produce
at Cabin John’s beautiful outdoor theatre this spring and summer,” said
Karey Faulkner, Heritage’s founder and producing artistic director.
For the production,
The Heritage Theatre Company is bringing a company of 9 actors to Cabin
John’s outdoor amphitheatre stage. The actors will portray 25
historical figures in The Killer Angels. This 2-hour stage-play is not
an historical reenactment.
“It’s a historical
play for certain but it’s one which the entire family can come out to
Cabin John and become quite engrossed in,” added Faulkner. “You don’t
have to be a student of history to thoroughly enjoy this play.”
Ticket prices range
from $15 to $18 for full time students ages 18 and younger, $22.50 to
$27.50 for seniors ages 65 years and older, and $25 to $30 for adults.
Group discount rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Tickets
may be purchased online by credit card at www.theheritagetheatre.org or
