Kid’ Fishing Day

SILVER SPRING, MD—Youngsters under 16 years of age will have a special chance to catch trout and panfish on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Potomac-Patuxent Trout Unlimited’s annual kids’ fishing day. The free event will take place between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM weather permitting in Martin Luther King Jr Park, Silver Spring MD. The park lake will be stocked with trout for the occasion. Bait will be provided but each child should bring a rod, reel and tackle such as hooks and a small bobber as well as warm clothing, drinking water and a snack. An adult should accompany younger children. Collaborating in the event are the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Potomac-Patuxent members will be on hand to help bait hooks, offer help on fishing techniques and demonstrate fly-casting.

Located in the White Oak area, the park is off Jackson Road just east of New Hampshire Avenue.

Please phone 240-338-7478 for further information and to indicate the number of youngsters coming from each family.
