Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department announce July 2023 Calendar of Events

WHEATON, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Board and Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have announced their July 2023 calendar of events and meetings. Residents can participate in Planning Board meetings by testifying in-person, testifying virtually or over the phone, and by watching the meetings on the Planning Board’s live stream. Community members may also testify by sending in written comments to the Planning Board. Information about submitting written testimony and testifying in front of the Planning Board can be found below. Contact us for accessibility accommodations.

To sign up to testify at Planning Board meetings, please go to the sign up to testify page and view individual agendas. Agendas are usually made public 10 days prior to the start of a meeting. Consult the Development Review Committee (DRC) and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) websites for their agenda information.

July Calendar of Events:

July 5 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet in-person and virtually. The community is invited to attend the meeting in-person or online by watching the DRC live video stream or viewing on-demand. The DRC is an inter-agency task force comprised of representatives from Montgomery Planning, public agencies, and utilities such as WSSC, PEPCO, the State Highway Administration, and the county Departments of Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Public Works and Transportation. At these regularly scheduled meetings twice a month, DRC members discuss development applications with the Applicants.

July 6 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in-person and online.

July 12Development Review Process Workgroup will meet for a public work session from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters. Watch the meeting live or on demand. The Development Review Process Workgroup was formed through a partnership with the Montgomery County Planning Department, the Montgomery County Executive, and the Montgomery County Delegation to examine the county’s process for reviewing and approving development projects, with a special focus on ensuring the county remains economically competitive. These meetings are not a part of the regularly scheduled Development Review Committee meetings.

July 12 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in-person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.

July 13 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in-person and online.

July 18 – Development Review Process Workgroup will hold a listening session for the public from 2 to 4 p.m. at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters, 2425 Reedie Drive, 2nd floor, Wheaton, MD 20902. The public is invited to sign up to provide feedback either in-person or virtually. Listening sessions are opportunities for the community to provide feedback to the Development Review Process Workgroup at a public meeting. All feedback provided will be considered when the Workgroup makes its final recommendations.

July 18 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet in-person and virtually. The community is invited to attend the meeting in-person or online by watching the DRC live video stream or viewing on-demand. July 19The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will hold its monthly Full Commission meeting.

July 20 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in-person and online.

July 26 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in-person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.

July 26 – The Montgomery County Planning Department will hold a community kickoff meeting for the Clarksburg Gateway Sector Plan at Clarksburg Neighborhood Park (22501 Wims Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871) starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the indoor building near the entrance to the park.

July 27 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in-person and online.
