Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department announce May 2022 events

Join Montgomery Planning staff for Bike to Work Day on May 20 and watch or attend upcoming meetings

WHEATON, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have announced their May 2022 calendar of events and meetings. All persons attending Planning Board meetings in person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD 20902) must be vaccinated, must sign up in advance, and may be required to show proof of vaccination. Those who participate are expected to observe general rules of decorum and address only the issues relevant to the decision before the Planning Board.

Residents can continue to participate in Planning Board meetings by testifying virtually and watching the meetings on the Planning Board’s live stream. Community members may sign up to testify and provide comments in person, through Microsoft Teams or over the phone to the Planning Board during the meeting on specific agenda items. Written testimony must be submitted in advance of the meeting. For accessibility accommodations, contact us.

May 3 – The Montgomery County Council will hold its second work session for the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan. Consult the County Council’s agenda for more information. Watch the County Council meeting online via live stream.

May 4 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing. Consult the HPC meeting webpage for agenda information.

May 5 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in person and online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information.

May 12 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in person and online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information.

May 20 – Montgomery Planning will participate in Bike to Work Day. From 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., join Montgomery Planning staff at the Rockville-Fallsgrove Village Center (14941 Shady Grove Road) pit stop to learn more about the Great Seneca Plan: Connecting Life and Science. Planning staff will also be at the Veterans Plaza (One Veterans Place Silver Spring, MD 20910) pit stop from 6 to 9 a.m. to discuss the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan. Additionally, Planning staff will be at the Pike + Rose (West of 935 Prose St, North Bethesda, MD 20852) pit stop from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. to discuss the Advancing the Pike District Study, the 2010 White Flint Sector Plan, 2018 White Flint 2 Sector Plan and other North Bethesda plans.
