Montgomery County Planning Department Announces Calendar of April Events

Residents invited to get involved with special events and community meetings to discuss plans and regulations for the County’s future

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Department, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is pleased to announce its events calendar for April 2015. These sessions offer ways to engage with planners and Planning Board members, and help shape the future of communities within Montgomery County. Montgomery Planning April 2015 Events:

April 2 – Attend, watch or listen live to the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting. View the full agenda.

April 8 – Learn more about public art within Montgomery County at a lunchtime presentation at the Planning Department’s headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring). From noon to 1 p.m., Suzan Jenkins, the CEO of the County’s Arts and Humanities Council, and urban design consultant Todd Bressi will discuss the impact of public art and new strategies for supporting it. Bring your lunch, questions and ideas to the session in the auditorium.

April 9 – There is no Planning Board scheduled for Thursday, April 9 due to MCPS Spring Break.

April 16 – Attend in person or tune into the live broadcast of the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting. Agendas, which are posted two weeks in advance, can be viewed on the Agendas & Staff Reports page.

April 20 – Attend the Bicycle Master Plan Preview Meeting at JHU Montgomery County Campus (9601 Medical Center Drive, Rockville, MD 20850: Academic and Research Building, Room 106-110) from 7 – 9 p.m. The Community invited to learn about the upcoming Bicycle Master Plan beginning with a focus on the Corridor Cities Transitway station areas.

April 22 – Attend the Westbard Sector Plan Community Meeting at the Walt Whitman High School cafeteria (7100 Whittier Blvd., Bethesda, MD) and learn about the newest concepts for the plan area. RSVP for the Westbard Plan Concepts Community Meeting.

April 23 – Attend or listen live to the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting. Agendas, which are posted two weeks in advance, can be viewed on the Agendas & Staff Reports page.

April 29 – Attend the next Greater Lyttonsville Sector Plan Community Meeting on Wednesday, April 29, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center (2450 Lyttonsville Road, Silver Spring, MD). Learn about the latest concepts for the plan area and RSVP for the April 29 Greater Lyttonsville Sector Plan Community Meeting.

April 30 – Attend, watch or listen live to the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting. Agendas, which are posted two weeks in advance, can be viewed on the Agendas & Staff Reports page.
