Montgomery County Planning Department Announces Calendar of June Events
Residents invited to get involved with special events and community meetings to discuss new plans for the County’s future

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Board, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is pleased to announce its calendar for June 2015. These events offer ways to engage with planners and Planning Board members, and help shape the future of communities within Montgomery County. Montgomery Planning June 2015 Events:

June 4 – Attend the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting to learn more about the future of specific places in your neighborhood. A full agenda for the meeting is posted on the Agendas & Staff Reports page.

June 6 – Learn about the future of bicycling in the County at the Second Great MoCo Bike Summit. Held from 10 am to noon at the Silver Spring Civic Center (1 Veterans Plaza), this annual event is organized by Councilmember Hans Riemer, with participation from the Washington Area Bicyclist Association,  Planning Department and the County’s Department of Transportation . Presentations include an overview of the new Bicycle Master Plan, aimed at improving bike lanes and facilities throughout the County.

June 7 – Enjoy children’s activities while learning about the latest County plans and projects at the Taste of Wheaton from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Grandview Avenue and Reedie Drive. Planners will be on hand to discuss the future M-NCPPC building and plaza that will be constructed in Wheaton, and other important projects at this annual food festival.

June 12 – Planning Board Chair Casey Anderson will lead Planning and Park Department staff on a bicycle tour of Lyttonsville, Downtown Bethesda and Westbard. The two-wheeler route is intended to highlight current planning areas and bike needs in the County. The public is invited to join the tour, starting at 11 a.m. at the Planning Department headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).

June 18 – Attend in person or tune into the live broadcast of the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting. Agendas, which are posted two weeks in advance, can be viewed on the Agendas & Staff Reports page.

June 24 – Sign up to testify at the Planning Board’s public hearing about the Bethesda Downtown Sector Plan at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center (4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD) from 2 to 5:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The hearing is taking place in Bethesda to make it more convenient for residents and business owners to participate. Spaces are limited, so the public is encouraged to call 301.495.4605 or register online to testify.

June 25 – Attend in person or tune into the live broadcast of the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting. Agendas, which are posted two weeks in advance, can be viewed on the Agendas & Staff Reports page.
