Montgomery Parks Celebrates Darnestown Heritage Park Opening

-Ribbon cutting ceremony to take place Saturday November 10, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.-

 SILVER SPRING, MDThe Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) Montgomery Parks announces the opening of Darnestown Heritage Park—the newest park to its system of 417 parks. The park, situated on a .6 acre parcel along Route 28 celebrates the history of the town through educational panels and a large pergola featuring interpretive sculptures by artist Cheryl Foster, of historic figures. The park features plenty of benches and seating areas as well as plaza space to accommodate community gatherings and lunch outings.
