Montgomery Parks Celebrates Reopening of North Four Corners Local Park

Park reopening will take place Sunday, April 17, 2016, 2 – 4 p.m.

SILVER SPRING, MDMontgomery Parks, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will celebrate the renovation of North Four Corners Local Park on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music, games, refreshments and a pet adoption event. The park is located off of University Boulevard between Dennis and Lorain Avenues, in Silver Spring. As part of the renovation, six acres of undeveloped land have been added to the park, as well as many new features:

  • A new athletic field for soccer and football
  • A new playground with an accessible path
  • New adult fitness stations
  • Renovated tennis courts and basketball court
  • Class 1 bikeway from University Blvd. to Southwood Avenue
  • New paved loop walkways throughout the park

Other new amenities include a plaza and seating areas, water fountains, portable toilets and trashcans, 50 parking spaces, landscaping and fencing, and protection for a significant walnut tree.

“We could not be more excited about the renovations to this important park,” said Michael Riley, Director of Montgomery Parks. “The new athletic field has been in demand for some time now; pet owners are really enjoying the new paved pathways, and kids love the playground. With all the new amenities and improvements, North Four Corners is a wonderful place for people of all ages and interests to play, work out, or relax.”

The reopening celebration will feature live music from Cornerstone, a classic rock and contemporary country band, soccer games and activities with coaches and players from Takoma Park Soccer Club and Northwood High School, a dog adoption event with Montgomery County animal rescue group PetConnect Rescue, and refreshments and giveaways.
