Montgomery Planning Board and Planning Department Announce December 2020 Online Events

Virtual Planning Board meetings continue and additional online listening sessions scheduled for the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan.

WHEATON, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have announced their December 2020 calendar of online meetings. For more details, review the list of events below and visit www.montgomeryplanning.org.

During this time of social distancing in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Planning Board will continue to hold public meetings online while Montgomery Planning’s new headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD) is closed to the public. Community members may sign up to testify and provide comments to the Board, during the meeting, on specific agenda items through Microsoft Teams or phone. Written testimony may be submitted in advance of the meeting. The December schedule of events is subject to change based on the ongoing response to the COVID-19 virus.

There are many ways to participate in Planning Board meetings:

December 2 – The Historic Preservation Commission will hold its meeting online. Consult the HPC meeting webpage for agenda information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

December 3 –The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. The Planning Board will be briefed on the Corridor Forward: I-270 Transit Functional Master Plan and engagement efforts for the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

December 8 – Join Montgomery Planning for an online listening session for the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan (5:30 to 6:45 p.m.). Community members will have the opportunity to share thoughts, concerns and ideas for the future of downtown Silver Spring and its surrounding area. The session will start with a short introduction and then break into smaller groups. We will share login information prior to the start of the meeting. RSVPs are required.

December 10 –The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

December 14 – Join Montgomery Planning for an online listening session for the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan (7:30 to 8:45 p.m.). Community members will have the opportunity to share thoughts, concerns and ideas for the future of downtown Silver Spring and its surrounding area. The session will start with a short introduction and then break into smaller groups. We will share login information prior to the start of the meeting. RSVPs are required.

December 16 – The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will hold its online Full Commission meeting. View the agenda when it is posted.

December 17 –The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. The Board will be briefed on three items related to the newly approved Growth and Infrastructure Policy:

December 24 – No Planning Board meeting is scheduled.

December 31 – No Planning Board meeting is scheduled. Virtual Planning Board meetings will resume on January 7, 2020.
