Montgomery Planning Board and Planning Department Announce November 2020 Online Events

Virtual Planning Board public hearing for the Thrive Montgomery 2050 Plan and Planning Department semiannual report to the Montgomery County Council among activities in November.

WHEATON, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have announced their November 2020 calendar of online meetings. For more details, review the list of events below and visit www.montgomeryplanning.org.

During this time of social distancing in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Planning Board will continue to hold public meetings online while Montgomery Planning’s new headquarters (2425 Reedie Dr, Wheaton, MD) is closed to the public. Community members may sign up to testify and provide comments to the Board, during the meeting, on specific agenda items through Microsoft Teams Live or phone. Written testimony may be submitted in advance of the meeting. The November schedule of events is subject to change based on the ongoing response to the COVID-19 virus.

There are many ways to participate in Planning Board meetings:

November 5 –The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

November 12 –The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

November 17 – The Montgomery County Planning Department and Department of Parks will present its fall 2020 Semiannual report to the Montgomery County Council. The presentation will be broadcast live on the Council’s website.

November 18 – The Historic Preservation Commission will hold its meeting online. Consult the HPC meeting webpage for agenda information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

November 18 – The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will hold its online Full Commission meeting. View the agenda when it is posted.

November 19  – The Planning Board will hold an online public hearing for the Public Hearing Draft of the Thrive Montgomery 2050 Plan at its regular meeting. Residents can testify live online or over the phone, but must sign up to testify by 12 p.m. on November 18, 2020. Community members can also submit written comments by email to mcp-chair@mncppc-mc.org  by the deadline of 12 p.m. on November 18. November 26 – The Planning Board will not meet, and the Planning Department will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving.

November 27 – The offices of the Montgomery County Planning Department will be closed.
