Planning Board and Planning Department Announce December 2019 Events

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Board and the Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, are pleased to announce their December 2019 calendar of events. December 3 – The Schools Technical Advisory Team will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Planning Department auditorium (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring) to continue its review and analysis of data relevant to the schools component of the 2020 Subdivision Staging Policy.

December 4 – The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Planning Department’s auditorium (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).

December 5 –The Planning Board will be briefed on the preliminary recommendations for the Shady Grove Minor Master Plan Amendment, among other items at this meeting. Consult the Board’s agenda for details.

December 18 – The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Planning Department’s auditorium (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).

December 19 – The Planning Board will review the Agritourism Study, among other meeting items. For more details, consult the Planning Board meeting agenda, which will be posted 10 days before the meeting. The Planning Board will also be briefed on the Pedestrian Master Plan Advisory Group  and a recap of the plan kickoff meetings, among other items at this meeting. December 26 – The Planning Board will not hold a meeting in observance of the holidays and will return on January 9.

About the Montgomery County Planning Board

The Montgomery County Planning Board oversees the Montgomery County Planning Department and Department of Parks, and advises the Montgomery County Council on land use and community planning. The board reviews all plans, development applications and regulatory cases, providing guidelines for the pattern and pace of future development and preserving historic resources throughout the 323,000-acre county. In addition, the board manages the county’s 36,991-acre park system that includes 422 parks. The Planning Board Chair serves as Vice Chair and Board members serve as Commissioners of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, a bi-county agency established in 1927 to protect public land. Current Planning Board members are Chair Casey Anderson, Vice Chair Natali Fani-Gonzalez, Gerald Cichy, Tina Patterson and Partap Verma.
