Planning Board and Planning Department Announce November 2019 Events

Community members are invited to learn more about the new Pedestrian Master Plan at public meetings in Germantown and Wheaton

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Board and the Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, are pleased to announce their November 2019 calendar of events. November 6 – A community meeting will be held for the Pedestrian Master Plan from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Upcounty Regional Services Center (12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown, MD). Planners will discuss the purpose and timeline for this countywide effort and gather feedback from attendees about local walking conditions, challenges and ideas for the plan. RSVP online to attend the meeting.

November 7 – The Planning Board will be briefed on the General Plan update, Thrive Montgomery 2050, and will review the Germantown Plan for the Town Sector Zone for approval, among other items. Consult the Board’s agenda for details.

November 12 – The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room (100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD) for the Forest Glen/Montgomery Hills Sector Plan. The deadline to sign up to testify is 10 a.m. on November 12. For more details about testifying, consult the Council’s website.

November 13 – A community meeting will be held for the Pedestrian Master Plan from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. at the Wheaton Regional Library (11701 Georgia Avenue, Wheaton, MD). Planners will discuss the purpose and timeline for this countywide effort and gather feedback from attendees about local walking conditions, challenges and ideas for the plan. November 13 – The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Planning Department’s auditorium (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).

November 14 – The Planning Board will meet to discuss the proposed FY21 operating budget for Montgomery Parks and Planning, and Aspen Hill Vision Zero Study, among other items. The Aspen Hill Vision Zero Study hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. For more details, consult the Planning Board meeting agenda, which will be posted 10 days before the meeting.

November 20 – The 10-member governing body of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) will receive a briefing from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) staff at Montgomery Planning headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD) regarding updates on the Interstate 495 and Interstate 270 Managed Lanes Study. The briefing will be streamed live at MontgomeryPlanningBoard.org and available on-demand.

November 21 – The Planning Board will review development plans for Montgomery County, among other agenda items. For more details, consult the Planning Board meeting agenda, which will be posted 10 days before the meeting.

November 28 – The Planning Board will not hold a meeting in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
