Rain Location Option – Renovated Jesup Blair Park Dedication Set for Friday, October 7

NEW RAIN LOCATION OPTION: Montgomery College Health Sciences Center, 7977 Georgia Avenue, Room 201, Silver Spring, MD

SILVER SPRING, MD — Representative from The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Montgomery College, and the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County will gather at Jesup Blair Local Park (or next door at Montgomery College in case of rain), in south Silver Spring, Friday, October 7, at 10 a.m. to dedicate the renovated 15- acre park, display the college’s plans for the new visual arts center and introduce the sculpture “Passage” by Linda DePalma.

Jesup Blair Park includes a soccer field, lighted tennis and basketball courts, walking paths and sidewalks, a tot lot, extensive tree preservation work, picnic areas and parking spaces.

By the end of the month, landscapers will plant more than 160 new native shade, evergreen and ornamental trees. In addition, the park includes the historic Jesup Blair house and a covered pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks linking communities in Takoma Park and Silver Spring and Montgomery College’s Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus.

Jesup Blair Park, 900 Jesup Blair Drive (at Georgia Avenue and the D.C. line) in Silver Spring or Montgomery College Health Sciences Center, 7977 Georgia Avenue (at Jesup Blair Road), room 201.
Free parking is available along Jesup Blair Drive for either event location. Look for the tent/canopy in back of the historic house.
