Itinerary updated 5/15 | Germantown Sector Plan Amendment – Planning Board Bus TourThe Planning Board will attend a tour of the Germantown Sector Plan Amendment area in advance of Planning Staff’s presentation of preliminary recommendations to the Board at a later date. The purpose of the tour is educational. No decisions will or can be made during the tour by Commissioners. This tour is free and open to any members of the public who wish to attend as an observer and who register online; at least 15 seats are available to the public. Times are estimates and subject to change based on traffic conditions. The deadline to sign-up for seats on the bus was Tuesday, May 19, at 12 noon. Members of the public are welcome to meet the tour at any of the stops below.
1. Departure – Wheaton HQ (9:30 a.m.) 2. Stop #1: Germantown Transit Center (10:15 – 10:30 a.m.) Directions to Transit Center: Take Georgia Ave. north to Layhill Rd., then west on the Inter-County Connector (MD-200) to I-270 North. Leave I-270 at Exit 13A and turn left onto Germantown Rd., then right onto Crystal Rock Dr. and right onto Century Blvd. Stop and disembark at a the “F” layby zone. 3. Stop #2: Germantown Town Center (10:40 – 10:55 a.m.) Directions to Town Center: Continue north along Century Blvd., then return south on Crystal Rock Dr. Turn right onto Century Blvd., then turn right on Town Commons Drive. Stop and disembark at BlackRock Center for the Arts where space allows. Note: Potential restroom break at BlackRock Center for the Arts. 4. Stop #3: Germantown MARC Station (11:00 – 11:10 a.m.) Directions to MARC Station: Turn left at Celebration Way, then left onto Middlebrook Rd., then right onto Century Blvd. to drive through the Germantown Commons and Plaza shopping centers. Turn left onto Wisteria Dr., right onto Germantown Rd., then left onto Bowman Mill Dr. Stop at a bus bay near the steps to the Germantown MARC Station and disembark. 5. Stop #4: Milestone Business Park (11:30 – 11:40 a.m.) Directions to Business Park: Turn north onto Walter Johnson Rd., right on Wisteria Dr., left on Crystal Rock Rd., then right on Middlebrook Rd. Continue along Middlebrook Rd. across I-270, then turn left onto Frederick Rd. (MD 355), left onto Ridge Rd., right onto Observation Drive, left onto Dorsey Mill Rd., and left onto Milestone Center Dr. Park the bus along the side of the road as space allows, ideally in front of the open space at Milestone Business Center, and disembark. 6. Stop #5: Milestone Shopping Center (11:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) Directions to Shopping Center: Follow Milestone Center Dr. to Observation Dr. Turn right onto Observation Dr., left onto Ridge Rd., then right into the Milestone Shopping Center entrance. Turn into a parking lot and park the bus along a parallel drive aisle to briefly disembark. 7. Return to Wheaton HQ with brief detour along Boland Farm Road (12:00 – 1:00 p.m.) Directions to I-270: Turn right on Shakespeare Blvd., then left onto Observation Drive, then right onto Boland Farm Rd. Drive slowly down Boland Farm Rd., turn around at the circle to return along Boland Farm Rd., then turn right onto Observation Dr. again. Continue across Observation Drive, through the Montgomery College – Germantown campus. Turn right onto Middlebrook Rd., then left at the I-270 South ramp. J. Pratt |
